From Christmas to New Year is the busiest time of the year. You might have friends you have not seen for a long time, and there are so many family parties or celebratory gatherings with colleagues. Presumably, your social life before pregnancy was pretty busy, but the situation is different now. If you get tired of the upcoming parties and are in desperate need of a night off, remember you don’t have to say “yes” to every invitation you receive. You only need to pick the ones you really want to attend. Please make sure to have at least one night free each weekend. Growing a baby is tiring work, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself.

 #2: Make Changes to Your Social Life

Having a child changes your life. But there is one thing you may not have thought about: pregnancy will affect your friendships, especially with those who may not be in the same life stage. After all, your mind at this moment is concentrated on things like diapers, strollers, and lots of other things unique to pregnancy.

Once you are pregnant, you may now find out who your “real friends” are. They are people who are interested in the new addition. Even if they don’t have their own children, you can feel their concern about your baby. For those friendships that aren’t flowing as naturally and require a lot more effort, you might gradually move them over to the “acquaintance” column. Also, you’ll want “mom friends.” You’ll want to make friends with people who know what you are experiencing. Don’t be afraid to make new friends at parks, baby classes, or local parenting groups; you will learn a lot about the pregnancy experience from them.

#4: Be Honest – Prioritize Yourself and Your Growing Baby

Enjoying Christmas while you’re pregnant requires a strong sense of borders: what will you do and what you will not do? This is also the moment you need to be honest with yourself. Can you cook food the same way you did in the past? Is travel the best choice for you and your changing body?

Be honest. What do you really want to do? Write it down and talk to your family, but no matter what you do, be honest.

Once your holiday boundaries are determined, share them with your partner. See if you need to make changes and new plans, depending on the situation. Communicate your ideas and plans to the extended family and go from there.

My advice for resolving the morning sickness problem during the holidays is to make a plan. Regiment your meal and snack times and keep your eating and sleeping rhythms as consistent as possible. Bring your favorite snacks, go out for fresh air, and keep a bottle of lemon essential oil in your pocket.
