Has pregnancy made it hard for you to sleep well at night? Sleep difficulties are a common occurrence among women who are pregnant. Whether you are a first-time mom, a mom who is expecting another addition to her growing family, or a surrogate, encountering issues falling asleep and getting sufficient quality sleep are likely to happen.

We at Joy of Life® Surrogacy know and understand the struggles that women go through during pregnancy. We offer help and support to surrogates who need information on what the surrogacy process is like. In addition to answering important questions like “What is the average surrogate mother pay?” or “How much do surrogates make?” we also have some useful tips to help them sleep better during pregnancy.

What Are Some Key Tips To Improve Sleep During Pregnancy?

During pregnancy, women go through a lot of changes in their bodies. They may experience various pregnancy symptoms that can make their usual routines more difficult. Especially at night, when they want to get some much-needed sleep, their sleep may be affected by nausea, vomiting, back pain, leg cramps, snoring, restless leg syndrome, heartburn, fetal movement, shortness of breath, and uterine contractions.

To sleep better during your pregnancy, below are things that you might want to try:

Sleep on Your Side

Sleeping on your back causes your spine and back to carry all the weight of your uterus while sleeping on your stomach is uncomfortable because of your baby bump. By sleeping on your side, particularly your left side, you can regulate blood flow to your uterus, and ensure that your fetus receives enough oxygen.

Place a Pillow Between Your Knees

Putting one or two pillows between your knees while sleeping gives you some cushion and provides relief from leg pain, swelling, hip discomfort, and other issues.

Elevate Your Upper Body

Make sure to have a pillow for your head and a body pillow that can support your back. Raising the upper part of your body helps reduce heartburn and body pains.

Here at Joy of Life® Surrogacy, we welcome surrogate moms who have a wide range of questions, from “What is the average surrogate mother pay?” and “How much do surrogates make?” to “How can I sleep better during pregnancy?” and “What should I expect once the baby is born?” We are here to ensure that the surrogacy process goes smoothly for everyone involved.
